About
Art is both escape and arrival. It reflects the world and can also reveal what is missing. I paint memorable places I've traveled to, places for contemplation, abstracts about music, musicians, nature and political themes. I aim to paint art that is meaningful and personal to the viewer.
I love to paint surfers and beach scenes because they are an important part of the Southern California lifestyle, where I have lived since 1988. I love to paint abstract interpretations of music and music related themes because I have been a musician my whole life. I am currently exploring portraying the bravery of our CA Wildland Firefighters and aerial units to create limited series prints to sell to benefit their funds.
I spent my childhood in northern New Mexico, and am inspired and influenced by the importance all art has on our lives in terms of unique human expression and meaning. Appreciation for natural environments and music were instilled in me at an early age.
I earned a Bachelor of Architecture in 1988 and have enjoyed an exciting career as an art director and set designer in the film industry since 1990.
My lifelong passions have included painting with oil and watercolor; drawing with pencil, ink pens and charcoal.
